I've been blogging a lot about Delaney lately--there is just so much to share! But this post is all about how incredible Sidney is--just when we think having a kiddo like him can't get much better! He's just the best when it comes to being a son, big brother, grandson, cousin, student, and teammate.
At first, we were a little nervous about this weekend with concerns we'd overbooked our boy. In two days, he had a soccer tournament (3 games plus a 4th if the team made it to the playoffs), a basketball game, and a rescheduled Cotillion Ball from last week's snow day. Sid never once complained about being tired, never stopped working his hardest, and was positive the whole weekend.

The tournament was about 45 minutes away and we had two games Saturday: 9:00 a.m. and 4:45 pm. But he had a basketball game in between back up by our house at 11:00. The Sunday schedule was a 9:00 am game and, if we won that one, a championship game at 1:00. Did I mention we have a 3 month old? You get the point.
In the first game, his team was down 2-0 at halftime. Sid went in at striker and scored to bring the score to 2-1. Our team tied it 2-2, and in the final minutes of the game, Sid scored the winning goal for a 3-2 finish! He and Jeremy busted it back up north, Sid changed into his basketball uniform, and played 3 quarters and scored 4 points: his personal best this season. I was glad that Delaney and I were able to go the game to see it (since it was indoors).
After some lunch and a short nap, it was back to the soccer fields. Delaney and I cheered him on from home, and Jeremy probably drove about 200 miles that day! Sadly, the team lost, but Sid never stopped running and working on the field.
That night, we took him down to the Cotillion Ball at the country club. He looked so grown up and handsome in his suit! When he was getting ready, I definitely had flashes of future homecoming and prom dances. He and his friends had a good time and danced with girls in their grade as well as 7th and 8th graders! Since the ball was two hours, Jeremy and I (and an angelic sleeping baby) were able to sneak way to have a nice dinner out for Valentine's Day.
On Sunday, it was back to soccer. Jeremy sent me text updates the entire game, and Sid scored another goal! That win sent them to the playoff game later that afternoon, against the team that beat them Saturday afternoon 3-0. Nana watched the baby so we were both there for the championship game. It was very exciting, great defensively, and ended in a 1-1 tie.
The tiebreaker was a penalty kick shoot out! Can I tell you how cute it was when the boys all gathered together and put their arms around each others' shoulders? The moms melted. Luckily, Sid made his shot and our goalie blocked one of their shots to win the game!! We were all jumping up and down and cheering them on!!

Go bud! Every year, I say you're at my favorite age. Every year, you top the one before.
