Baptism

Delaney was baptized at our church this past Sunday--what a memorable event! We were really glad that all of her Grandparents could attend in person, especially since Grandpa and BB flew in with only a few weeks' notice!

It was also really meaningful that our pastor, Dr. Dale, performed the ceremony. There are lots of reasons why he is an outstanding minister, but three particularly special to us:
  1. He married us (and imparted some invaluable pearls of wisdom in pre-marital counseling)!
  2. He visited us in the hospital the day Delaney was born and was the first person (besides the two of us) to hold her!
  3. A couple of Sundays ago at church, I was standing in the back with a fussy baby girl. The associate pastor was leading worship, and Dr. Dale asked if my arms were getting tired and motioned that he'd like to hold her. He then told me to go sit with Jeremy for the rest of the service and she slept in his arms!

Of course, she looked like a little angel in her gown and bonnet. Dr. Dale made sure Sidney was included and gave him the very important job of adding the water from the Jordan River to the font. It was unrehearsed, but Sidney answered confidently and correctly when asked where the water was from and why it was important. Jeremy had an opportunity to ham it up with a laugh from the congregation when he exclaimed "Phew!"
